Hello,

Can someone recommend a good camcorder mount (windshield type) for car?

I saw this on Amazon - looks cool but would like to know if anyone has used it:

I too am looking for a good in-car camera mount so I await others' opinions...

I'm thinking a mount with 3 suction cups rather than 1 might be better. In case of suction failure, the extra two cups might give you enough time to grab it and make sure the camera doesn't hit the ground/dash/floor/head.

I've also seen videos from people that said they liked the mounts with 2 articulated pieces instead of 1. One of them said it was often impossible to get the camera into the right position with only one "universal joint."

Good luck in your search - please let us know what you buy and how it works out for you.

Is this for in the car and looking out? Or outside the car looking in? Normally the 3 suction cup one is what you see the pro-ish types using. For in the car with something like a mino HD, a gorilla pod with a leg or two stuck in the door seems to work for some folks.

Thanks for the note Eric. I am just a beginner in this field (studying at USC Film School; crossing my fingers
) so it hasn't hit me yet that I get ultra stable camera mount for in-car experimental shots. I did some research online and eventually decided to go with the one found earlier - from flexCope... ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00..._9XX2mb1GG25ZA )

I received the package yesterday and have been playing with it in my van since... So far so good. The mounting arm is longer than I needed it to be but it is cool... I especially like the interchangeable feature, which enables me to mount either a camcorder or a smart phone - the usage model is well thought through. That alone deserves the bucks.

Have fun.

The gorilla pod won't work if the door needs to be opended from time to time...
