Maybe i've been spoiled by the (few) HDTV programming i've seen on my new RCA F38310, but even in progressive mode, i am feeling that dvd's are looking a little soft and almost like my eyes are straining to see fine detail. Especially with title sequences.....anyway, what's a good scene on a good dvd to test if my tv/dvd player (i have a JVC S500BK) is really picking up all the fine detail it can?

thanks

In last scene of Dinosaur you should be able to resolve the monkey's individual hairs as he opens the egg.

How about the fine print on the newspapers in 'The Natural'?

I agree with Kal. Using movie content to judge the resolving power of your display is a poor test. The Avia resolution patterns will provide you with more meaningful and objective information.
