I hope this is appropriate for this area. I am new to the forum (not forums in general, just this one), so if this is not an appropriate place to ask this, let me know and I will delete it.

My sister wants to buy a DVD player, and I'm sure she will be asking me which one. I haven't been looking at DVD players for a while, since I have been happy with my Sony DVP-S3000 (4 yrs old now). She doesn't have a lot of money, and this will just be hooked up to a TV, not a HT, so bells and whistles don't matter.

What are the good, reliable, and inexpensive players that I should look into for her? Are there any which should be avoided?

I appreciate the help.

Mike these people have a good selection of inexpensive DVD players from New York City area. http://www.jandr.com website known as J & R Music World, shipping by United Parcel Service. I also own some DVD players both Sony and RCA.

Another URL is http://www.crutchfield.com Crutchfield I hope one of these will help you and your sister decide, try for a progressive scan as these models have really come down in price. Should your sister go High def the player will produce better images than a interlaced player.
