I believe the folks who say FFDShow beats the high end DVD players - and that you need to apply the settings that give you the best picture. BUT, for whatever reason, I've been testing against the beginning of The Day After Tomorrow. I thought I could get a much sharper image of the icebergs in the intro. Then they showed the picture in HD on Comcast - and the icebergs look the same.

So I'm obviously not using the best test to see FFDShow's benefit.

Could some of you tell me which scenes you use to test out FFDShow? I mostly watch film based DVDs and just want some good examples of where FFDShow's capability is utilized.

The HTPCNews how-to uses Monsters Inc and one of the Star Wars - are those good choices?

Thanks,

Brett

Lot of folks use fine details like the individual hair strands on head/beard - try LOTR DVDs. I also look at the cracks on John Hurts face on my Hell Boy R2.
