What a hoot! Very nice!
No buzzing on my unit as was reported by some in this forum.
The picture is spectacular. I watched a few movies tonight just to see what I could see, and I noticed much more detail - almost like you could feel the fabric during some of the scenes in Gladiator.
The one scene where the emperor returns to Rome and has a bad day at the senate. I never realized his white cape was really white on white. I could see the white shapes on the white cape. And Connie's dress, I could feel the crunchiness of the silk through the screen.
I'm still dialing in contrast, screen, tint and ect, but still, it is heads and sholders above my CRT. I had a Proscan 36 inch, and I thought that gave me lots of detail - not!
I do have one question though, what about wiggle mode, will that help to reduce the chance of burn-in with channel logos that the networks leave up on the screen in the same position all the time.
I like auto mode, especially when watching shows that are letterboxed like Stargate. But I guess that zoom mode is smart enough to just loose the black bars on the top.
I also shaded the bars on the sides for 4:3 to the darkest grey.
This was one really great purchase. I get my living room back AND get a bigger picture. Also, I won't have that big thing in the middle of my soundstage when I listen to 2 channel audio.
I got the plasma screen through the AVS Forum, and I really recommend those guys. I almost bought a obsolete model over the internet (I had no idea what I was doing). They are really helpful, and know the right questions to ask so you get the right unit.
This is just too cool!
