Hi

Ordered my systems should be here in 2 weeks. Thanks for the advice on config, maybe I goofed on getting AIW instead of 9800 (wanted HD eventually but don't thick AIW does that). My question is since I did not get a monitor whats best way to connect computer to my regular TV (assume S Video is the best way) and doing so can watch regular TV, surf the web and play DVD's. Assume resolution is better than using my DVD player (non progressive scan) and Svideoing that to the TV.

Also whats the best way to connect the audio to my pre-amp, both a digital connection and the stereo analog outs I would assume?

Is it possible to use the comp as a pre-amp and connect the analog outs directly to my power amp? Any way to do this from a HTPC, would be a great advantage to getting rid of the pre-amp.

You are correct, AIW does not support HDTV. You will need a separate card for this (e.g. MyHD MDP-100 or MDP-120) or get an STB.

You did not tell what kind of TV you have. So I will assume it is a regular CRT with not even component in, just composite and svideo. So yes, your best bet will be svideo. But I fear the picture quality/resolution won’t be great either way, because of svideo’s limited capabilities. You might not even see a difference to your DVD player.
