I just re-did all of my hookups and verified that all was working by playing The Matrix on my oldish JVC player. I noticed that the background had a grainy or noisy appearance. I didn't play it before I disconnected everything to get a before-and-after comparison. My question is whether this is "normal" or if I may be getting a bad connection or have crappy cables. I have to say that I have noticed this effect on other DVDs with my original setup. It is particularly noticable on my Top Gun DVD. It makes me wonder if the DVD is only as good as the original film.

The Matrix is definately one of the grainier DVD's in my collection. Only IO also have a JVC so I can't say if its the player or the disk. I do have good cables and a good TV.
