There was specualtion last night when it was not at the Sony event.
Im really surprised. I think Sony is in trouble. This was their bread and butter game. One of the biggest reasons to own the PS2.
You mean Vice City? It already came out for PS2 a while ago ;)

Kidding, I know you mean in the now known series that isn't top down.

Do you have a link or anything that mentions this news? :)

Peter Moore said XBox 360 only. There ya go listening to Gamespot haha.
This is a shocker. It's also good for MS and the 360.
Maybe the episodic content is for 360 only.... for the Marketplace.
Maybe the episodic content is for 360 only.... for the Marketplace.

I don't thnk they could state it any more clearly. GTA4 for 360 only. I'm reading the blog of the conferance and apparently Peter Moore has GTA4 "tatooed" on his arm.

12:22: "Major announcement about one of greatest franchsies of all time." Says its so exciting that he has to take his shirt off. Shows Halo 2 tatto--GRAND THEFT AUTO IV tatoo on other arm. Grand Theft Auto IV October 16 2007 to Xbox 360 ONLY.
That's a pretty huge deal. I can see lots of "horse armor" being sold on Marketplace for this game. :p Seriously, this is a good move by Microsoft.
NICE!!:D If this is true then M$'s competition just got owned. :)

On IGN they clearly state:

"12:20pm: After the Viva Pinata demo ends Marketplace talk starts. It provides users different ways to purchase games. The Fight Night demo helped to increase EA's game sales by 5 times. There will be downloadable TV content ready this week including a Gears of War docudrama that starts on Live and finishes on MTV.

The HD DVD player is shown and it is about 1/3 the size of an Xbox 360. It will be ready this holiday season.

On October 16th 2007 Grand Theft Auto 4 will be available on Xbox 360. There was no mention of an exclusive to 360.

The Crysis demo was shown for PC with real-time footage. It is basically the same footage that has been shown by EA. "

Per Team Xbox, 360 gets GTA4 first. With exclusive episodic content via Live.

"...I'm reading the blog of the conferance and"

your reading someone's descriptions of the event, misinformation is possible.

As per the official GTA4 site, it isn't exclusive, nor is it indicated that it will come out earlier for the 360.

Look for yourself:

ETA: Apparently R*'s official e-mail states simultaneous release for 360 and PS3. Someone's not telling the whole truth.

ETA2: "Following the announcement during the Microsoft press conference, Rockstar Games issued a press release confirming that GTAIV would be hitting both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 simultaneously in the fall of 2007."

Sorry, misinformation.

Lots of people are confused right now, but it looks like Rockstar's official statement is a simultaneous release.
I could care less if it's exclusive, I'm just happy MS is on a level playing field with Sony this time around. I hated how they seemed to get the short end of the stick during the last generation.
If nothing else, it appears MS has neutralized a big advantage Sony had.

with Xbox Live, gamers might be able to buy some horse armor for their GTA 4 too :p
lol, MS fanboys dreams given hope then crushed immediately after (not this board but some others, countless topics invading the PS3 boards about exclusitivity).
I'm watching the press conference right now and Moore didn't say anything about exclusivity.
