I have been searching in the archives about a procedure for adjusting gray scale on a crt. I could not find anything relevant. The gray scale on my ecp sucks. I have tried and adjusted everything as per the service manual. I cant get a good white field or a good gray scale. The tubes are in good shape and I am using a pc as a source for my dvd.

Do we adjust color using the overlay in the Ati card or is there something on the projector that does that. I don't own a colorimeter and I'm trying to do my best by eye. Anyone got suggestions?

I have run a PC monitor next to my screen running the same grey scale and tweaked the projector until they matched. This of course assumes the monitor is correct. The human eye is good at distinguishing color differences better than absolute color.

On the back of the projector in the middle board (waveform module) you will see the RGB drive controls. This is direct from the manual "Connect a source with either a greyscale or large white image. Turn all three controles fully clockwise. Set the contrast control to a normal level. Now reduce one or two of the controls for a white image or proper greyscale" I have found that the green drive stays on full and you have to adjust down the R and B. However this is dependant on tube condition. Hope it helps?

I just adjusted my XG 75 (new G & B tubes) with a monitor reference until I am able to borrow a colorimeter. I adjusted the unit with only the electronic controls on the NEC which loops thru various drive and black level (G2) settings. I am sorry I can't help you on an ecp.

I tried this but can't seem to get the hang of it. My gray scale is mushy and my white field shows to much red and blue. If I turn down those colors, I still can't get proper gray or white. Will go at it again.
