all,

when I switch to the VGA(pc) in input of my panasonic plasma (TH-42PWD4UY), I get a green picture. I've tried changing the cables but the problem persists. I'm using a vga breakout cable from BetterCables -- component out from DVD player to VGA input. I have the signal set to Component as opposed to RGB. I'm desparate to use the VGA input as I have three sources with component outs.

Any ideas anyone?

thanks!

can you suggest links to some of those converters?

the menu and the user guide for VGA/pc suggest that component and RGB are acceptable options...where did you come accross that information

I've had the TH42PWD5UY which also doesn't accept Component thru VGA.

Here's the manual for the TH42PWD4UY :
http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPER...TH42PWD4UY.PDF

On page 16 component isn't mentioned on the VGA D-sub 15-pin layout

Now on the TH42PWD6UY :

ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/panasoni...H-6.Series.pdf

On page 10 notes:

(9) Component Input is possible with the pin 1,2,3 of the D-sub 15P Connector.

See the VGA D-sub 15-pin layout:

(1) Pr/Cr

(2) Y

(3) Pb/Cb

I agree with Gx35.

Spleen

PS: I was worried that this was going to be a thread about the appearance of Pioneer's "green-eyed monster" on a Panasonic. :)
