Green line through middle of screen???

289 Views 11 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  mcastleberg
My Sony 1030Q is acting strange lately. I've started to notice a line running through the left side of the screen, right in the center. It's been getting more and more noticeable the last few weeks. What is going on here? Are my tubes going? (God, no.)

Sounds like a convergence board issue. See if you can back off on one of the controls to get rid of it.

I've got a couple here that are doing that as well, just no time to dive into them yet to see what the scoop is with them.

I got this on a couple of Sonys, it had something to do with the red and blue top and bottom Keystone 'balance'? It was a long time ago but it was one of the pots that balance or combine the red and blue. Doug
I'm kind of a rookie guys, could you go into a little more detail for me?
Im a rookie also on Sony, can someone help him or do a take off. Thanks, Doug
Simple. Tweak each convergence pot slightly with a freeze frame from a DVD showing the fault clearly. See if one pot adjustment makes it better/worse, and see if backing the control off from where it is eliminates the issue.

One of these fine days (Xmas?) I'll dive into these dead convergence boards here and find a permanent cure for this, unfortunately it's a low priority right now.

Curt
By convergence pots you mean the adjustments used for calibrating/focusing the image?
Yes, sorry, what you said..:)

I'm not having much luck getting rid of the line. Which dials exactly should I be messing with?
could it be an input problem? ground or something? I saw something similar with my old Barco, and every now and then it is faintly visible in my NEC - making me thing it is something in my setup, before the pj, rather than my butchering of pj settings causing the problem. possible?
Nah, I haven't been fiddling around inside it or anything.
