Just so you know, nothing's broken or wrong with your equipment. It's that your cable signal is transmitting less than the full 1920x1080 pixels your display is capable of displaying and the green is the absent information. Yet another reason why Blu Ray should never die. Anyway, if you can't tolerate the stripe there are a few options:
1) If your projector has a "zoom" feature, you can try using one of those to trim the edge of your image so you don't see the line. Though I think sometimes this feature takes too much out of a picture. And it can be used for regular TV if you must, but is unnecessary with DVD or BR.
2) If your projector has a feature called "overscan", and it probably does, you can turn it on and it will trim about 2.5% of the boarder of your picture off and zoom the remaining portion to fill your screen. This is okay to use for TV, but should be turned off for DVD and BR as it causes some picture degradation in a true, full 1080P signal.
3) If your projector has a feature called "blanking", you can try using that. Essentially, blanking will black out the edges of your screen, rather than zoom in the image. It's like drawing a curtain in over the image. Not all projectors have it, but it's an interesting feature. If you do have it, it should allow you to "blank" all four sides of the screen independently, so you only have to use it on the side with the green stripe to make it go away. As before, you should turn this off when watching DVD or BR.
