Grillwork on speaker column

Hi there,


One of my favorite theatres here is PeterS Metropolis. Design is superb and I like many things one of them being the columns. According to his thread http://avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=491665 they are wooden construction with the grillwork made out of some epoxy mix.


If I do something similar I was wondering how it will effect the sound. Speaker regular have the transparent cloth but this is not transperent. Maybe it doesn't matter since the area covered is not to much.


Whats your thoughts about this. Will it effect speaker performance to a noticible degree?
