If anyone would like to see and hear anything or stuff discussed about like rew, sound proofing, subwoofer placement, speaker placement and so on please list even if your not coming. Very gracious of you to offer. I'm in Des Plaines, +/- 45 miles away.

I'm curious to hear how these GTG go? Are there measurements A/B comparisons of people bringing their own stuff, and tech talk? I have no measurement equipment, no real gear of value to demo (Klipsch LCR and surrounds), and my lonely 1 sub (also SI HT18) is still in progress.
I would feel like I wouldn't have much to offer other than enjoy the sound and bring beverages.

This would be my first to...... But I think it would be great to get together and learn and show some comparisons between speakers or just to chill out and get ideas about all are own set ups. You would be more than welcome to come over. It would be fun to hear your impressions your 1-18 vs. 4 of them. I have a mic and rew on my laptop this would be a good learning experience for all of us to go over rew to. We can all learn from each other on this to. Mike

Neat, you are only about 30 minutes from me. I have a bunch of interesting speakers that I could bring, unfortunately most diysg speakers I have here are only the single speaker prototypes so no stereo listening with those.

I'm glad you seen this I was looking for your user name early today. I remembered seeing you were from millbrook and a diy guy to. Looking forward to getting together at the meet. Mike

So no date yet?
I've been reading on which DIYSG pair to build. Problem is that haven't heard any yet. Maybe this will give me a deadline push to decide, order, build and finish a pair.
I've been leaning towards something in this size range:
- Cinema-10 Max
- Fusion-12: The Tempest
- Elusive 1099

I am planning to finish my sub 1st when I get some time (I run my own business, and two kids both playing two travel sports each) doesn't leave much play time.. Then was going to move on to a set of stereo mains, and then possibly expand it to 3 more for center and surrounds.

I'm in the same boat I just got back from soccer practice for my 2 kids age 4 and 6. I like your speaker choice I was thinking down the road maybe building the Elusive 1099's for my own set up. Maybe this GTG meet can help you decide which one to go with to but you have all very good choices there to. I was thinking maybe the end of June for the meet. I'm still getting everything in order in my room. Later today I'll post everything that I have and will be ordering for the meet for the HT room. Mike

Every parent goes through the sacrifice, and I love watching them - but I have sat outside in folding chair more hours than I will ever spend in a home theater. 14 and 12, but they love sports - Football, both play basketball, track, cross country, baseball, softball, volleyball. I'm happy I'm not a hockey parent on top of it...

We're probably neighbors. I'm at Drauden and Theodore. I can bring my Tempests.

My schedule is chaotic, however, so maybe throw a couple weekend possibilities out there before committing to just one...?

I'd probably bring a friend who's in the same boat as you- wondering which set to build for his basement theater.

I'm with you on that one, soccer and swimming lessons take up so much time with us and working full time but it's all worth it for the kids... but leaves little time to enjoy the space along with building it and finishing it to. I was up last night until 1 a.m. working on the flooring in the main basement area... then trying to get the oppo in the rack and hooked up. The only time is when the kids go to bed to get some real work done there. I think were all in the same boat with kids. When its all done and the wife and I and some friends are over enjoying a movie it will be all worth it. The basement is 2004 sq. feet so its taken me some time to get were I am right now. I did a third furnace just for the basement to so that can be on it's own zone to save some money on not heating the area when were not down there. A bar area still have to figure out the bar top ether granite or butcher block. So glad I'm at the end now with flooring and trim going on.
