I own the CD version of this landmark album. While it holds up well for a 20 year old album, I wanted to know, if there's a definative version on SACD or DVD-A somewhere. Thanks.

No. There was a MoFi cd years ago, though. 20 years, jeez, fantastic album and one of my top 10 since it was released. I have that greatest hits cd, but I've never critically compared how those versions differ sonically, if at all.

Honestly, the day I sit down to listen to AFD is the day I officially get "old".

I wish there was a DVD-A quad mix of AFD!!! Can't wait for Chinese Democracy, hopefully this year!

A GNR album without Slash, Izzy, Duff, and heck, even Steven, is not a GNR album I would be interested in. Well, maybe I would download it for curiosity's sake.

Some of the tracks, in demo form, have been leaked well over a year now.

Search out the songs 'better' 'there was a time' 'I.R.S.' 'Madagascar' 'the blues' and 'Chinese Democracy' to get a sampling of how Axl's band sounds.

Personally, I grew up on GNR and I still love this new work, with or without the 'original' band. I make sure to judge the music with my ears, not by names of the people recording it.
For your listening "pleasure", here's a Patience cover I did some time ago I found on the hard drive...have at it.

This SACD or DVD-A would be most welcome... I would love to have a hi-rez version but 2-channel would do.

Unfortunately the music industry is tired... too busy complaining about people pirating to actually work on product that I we would buy

Fair enough, although it's essentially Axl and his band rather than GNR. For a band, the people recording it are the band members, and when 4 of 5 of the original members are gone it doesn't seem much like the band that I also grew up with. Thx for the info though, I will have to check them out.
