Does anyone know if the GWIV sets take a HDMI signal and keep it digital, as it is received from a DVD player, or do they convert it to analog for use within the TV?

I am trying to determine if HDMI will provide any real benefits in this application. If the signal is converted back to analog it would seem that a component connection may actually be superior to HDMI for this set.

From what I've heard/read, the sony LCD RP TVs (GWIII and GWIV) take in a digital signal via HDMI or DVI, convert to analog, and then scale to 788p. This seems to negate the benefits of using the all digital HDMI or DVI connections. I'm using a DVI---> HDMI cable on my GWIV from my Momitsu V880dx DVD and the picture looks good. But I do wonder how much better it would look if it was on an all digital path.
