Gyration owners...am I the only one?

Gyration owners, ok now truthfully....am I the only one who did not realize that the reciever's antenna extends 5in?!?

No wonder why I was getting a choppy signal further than 10ft away. From the mixed reactions to gyration, I wonder how many other owners/previous owners never knew this? :p

Honestly, I learned the the antenna extended by accident.

When I purchased my Gyration, it worked perfectly out to the box and both the keyboard and mouse worked a good 25 feet without the antenna extended. It wasnt until a couple weeks later that I moved the antenna a bit and it extracted out. LOL.

BTW -- my Gyration RF receiver quit working altogather a couple weeks ago and Gyration is sending me another RF receiver.

Hmm, mine does not extend... I have only the mouse not the keyboard, but I think it is the same base anyway.

On the other hand I have not any problems with the signal strength - I only use it from a only a couple of feet away anyway.

However, I think the battery is about to die. The charge now only lasts for a couple of hours... pretty disappointing..

So, I think you are saying I can stop pulling on the antenna now... :D

You're right I didn'r know that. But then again I've never had any reception problems, the absolute max distance you can be in my HT room away from the base station is 24ft, which is the front left corner by the screen, and even there it all works perfectly.

I have 2 and neither extend (keyboard/mouse suite)
I always wondered why there is so much negative feedback on the Gyration gear. I've used mine in my HT room for a couple months now and I love it. At first it took me a while to get is to work right. Extending the antenna sure helped :) Also I had to find a channel that worked dependably. I'm not sure if it conflicted with my 54G network or my wireless joystick, but only a couple channels work well. After I resolved these issues I haven't had a single problem.
Hehe, your not the only one I have had it for over a year. I going to go try and pull it out :) Thanks for posting this...
Cool--I was just bitchin about the fact that it seems like me reception was finking out and inconsistant. Now that I have extended the antenna, I am hoping that this is a past problem.

Another question--how long do the batteries in your keyboard last. Mine seem to have lasted about a month, and I have not used it very much. Perhaps I will switch to NiMH rechargeable batteries since I already have a few sets and a nice charger for the digital camera.
The ones that come with it don't last long. Should last about 6 months or so
LOL, add me to the dufus list, and yes it does help reception!
I have the receiver AS00216 and the antenna does not extend.

MD
Mine doesn't extend. AS00216. You guys got me excited for a minute. I wonder if the will send me one that extends?

Edit: I just emailed them and requested a antenna that extends or a new base. Will let you guys now if they will fix my non extending dysfunction :)
Just checked, mine doesn't extend either, oh well...

To my knowledge, there are at least two different version of mouse/keyboard suites by gyration, one having a 100ft reach (supposed to be working in very large seminar halls as well), the other about 10 ft (meant for smaller rooms). The latter does not have an extendable antenna.

Ok thanks MaxC.. Now that I have ripped my antenna off of the unit trying to make it extend how do I get a replacement?????? ;-)
There are two versions of the Gyration, one that goes 33 feet and the other goes 100. I think the antenna extends only on the 100 feet version. I have the 33 feet version and the antenna doesnt extend. I think gyration calls the 100 foot version Gyration Pro or something like that, it's been a while. I have had mine for over a year now and love it.

I bought the Ultra GT Suite (with the integrated numeric keypad in the keyboard) and my antenna extended. I think the GT Suite is only rated at 33 feet.
