H/K 7200 and IR Help needed.

321 Views 5 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  outlier2
I'm trying to tie my new H/K 7200 into my existing IR repeater systesm and I'm having all sorts of problems. I can not get the H/K to respond to an IR signal with either an emitter, or plugged directly into the IR port in the back. The remote controls it with no problem, but I get nothing when I try to control it through the hard wired IR. The system is partially Xantech, and the other part is Audioplex (xantech compatible from Parts Express). Anyone have any ideas?? If I move the emitter to the satellit box, old denon receiver, or even my IR keyboard receiver, all of the commands are received properly. When I move it in front of the H/K, nothing. Like I said, the normal remote works fine, and I have placed the emitter direcly over the spot on the front of the unit. I even tried the IR jack on the back..still nothing. Is there someting I'm missing here?? This is driving me crazy--anyone have any suggestions? I'm sure others are using this unit with a hard wired IR system. How are you doing it?? What did I miss

Barhoram,

I use a Xantech system with a stereo jack mini plug from the connecting block to the back of my 7200. I haven't tried an emitter but the plug works great. Make sure you are plugging it into the right connector. One is a remote IR in and the one beside it is IR out. There is also a 'multi' in for a second zone. You should use the remote in connection using a mono 3.5mm plug (I used a stereo one and it works fine also).
What kind of Xantech IR target are you using? I can now control the 7200 from IR learned by computer sent through the Xantech system, but not using the remote to an Audioplex tager to the 7200. This is making no sense to me??
I have the Xantech J-box receiver hooked up to a simple one zone Xantech connecting block and on to my 7200. I have no problem using my remote for this setup. Perhaps your IR receiver is not passing along a very strong signal. What is the distance involved? My IR receiver is around 30' from the connecting block.
Well, I thik I have solved my problem. The IR target that I had was for 56Khz (for my RCA directTV box). The guys at Audioplex suggested that a 40Khz target might make a difference with HK equipment. I tried this, and it seems to work...most of the time. I'm still trying to get it to work 100% of the time. I'm also working on the RS232 control of the unit with homeseer. If i get this figured, I may use this to control vs. IR.
Glad to hear it worked out for you. Enjoy!
