As you can use the shell extension settings of Halli to generate thumbnails form the video and even specify the time into the video to get it from, does anyone know if you can get it to pick a jpg attached in an MKV file?

If not, where would you ask for it to be made so?

If you think about it, it'd be really nifty. You could make an MKV and add the cover as a jpg in the file with the video, audio and subtitles. HMS when called on by Explorer to generate a thumbnail from the video, could have an option to look for a jpg first and use this.

It would probably take less time to render them as well.

Thus making Windows Explorer a much nicer way to browse one's move collection.

And why stop there? If this became the norm, networked media players could access the pictures, and other front end software.
