Halo 2 on 360

So I was playing Halo 2 last night and a couple things happened to me.

First of all, has anyone else experienced a frame rate drop? It seemed that it wasn't running smooth and was literally choppy in places. Is this normal? I thought it was lag so I jumped into the campaign and still noticed it.

Also, I got my first black screen of death. I put the game in, closed the drive and the black screen came up. I turned it off and let it sit for a few moments, fired it back up and it was fine. Is this a sign of things to come? Has anyone else had that happen and everything go back to normal?

I have had a black screen when attempting to play Halo 2 a few weeks back, but it seems fine now. Halo 2 has seemed quite fine with the framerate on both coop and single player.
Are you connected to the web / on Live? There have been updates to the backwards compatibility that may address those issues.
play halo2 on 360 = great, smoother and crisp..no problems what so ever.

i agree with being online..there have been 2 or 3 updates since i first tried to play it
i haven't had or noticed any problems at all really.
Maybe it's just my display (XBR 960) but Halo 2's colors look all wonky on my 360, maybe i should set the system to 480p when playing old Xbox games, maybe it uses a different color space?
I have no problems with the single player game. what res you play at?
I'm on live, have all the updates and play at 480p, so I don't have to go widescreen, I can't play split screen if it's divided vertically.

On the original xbox if you set the dashboard's video setting to "Normal" Halo 2 would do horizontal splitscreen. On the 360 however this might not work well because from my understanding if your video settings are set to 1080i or 720p with screen set to "Normal" you'll have a bar on top and bottom. I don't think running @ 1080i will help with your problems but it could be worth a try.
