Hi all,

O.K. my PC has been up and running for about 6 weeks now. Very stable now (I did have some problems with the Asus P4G8X MB and ATI 9700 but finally got it resolved).

So far I've added TheaterTek, Powerstrip, ffdshow, and 4AM music.

I'm adding just a little software at a time and making sure it remains stable before I add another.

My next venture is to try and burn DVD's from recorded Tivo and VCR programs. My questions are:

Can I use my Halo3dgraph card as a capture card?

What software do I need to accomplish this?

Would also like to rip DVD's to Hard Drive, whats the best software for that?

Thank you all for the help so far. This forum rocks!!

Hi Doright,

I've got the same config with you but I'm not that lucky to fix my HTPC.

I am using P4G8X Delux and ATI 9700 Pro; with 2 sound card, the build-in one and Avadvark 2496Pro.

May I ask you a couple of questions:-

1. What's the bios date ?

2. Did you put Direct X 9 or 8.1 ?

3. Which driver version you use from ATI ?

4. How about Powerstrip ?

and the final one is I just hope up the VGA port to my Sanyo Z1; I can't change the resolution to 960x540....I need your help.

Thanks...

I've got a H3D, but it can't be used as a capture card.

As regards burning DVDs, I followed Bob Sorel's step-by-step explanation in his 'Ripping 101' thread. Worked great - first time, no problems.

Cheers,

Pete

The H3D can function as a capture board. You will need software that talks to the WDM driver. I tested it with Virtual VCR and it worked fine. Albeit you dont have any of the H3D controls when (ie turning on DCDi) when doing so.

Mice,

Read this thread

That will explain all the troubles (and some solutions) with the P4G8X.

Download the latest drivers from ATI and use Bios version 1003.

I downloaded Powerstrip AFTER I resolved the problems - so it works great.

Hope that helps.
