Has anyone seen or does anyone have a Bass Halolite poster marquee? We were looking around and there are a bunch of places that sell them, but there seems to be two slightly different types. Some have a changable sign on the bottom and others seem to be fixed. Some seem like they are back lit while others look like they have a neon light around the border. The picture on the Bass site looks like the latter. I'm going to call them Monday (none of these places are open on the weekend), but I was wondering if anyone here knows.

Thanks.

I am also considering purchasing a Bass Poster Marquee...

I've asked the owner of Electroshops many questions regarding the Poster Marquees...

http://www.electroshops.com/consumer...ermarquees.htm

He has been very helpful...

Here is what I gathered...

1) All the marquees are backlite

2) The "Neon" is actually a transparent gel that allows the backlight to shine through

3) I believe that all the words below are changable. I believe that different words are supplied...

You may want to give Electroshop a call before ordering...

I also got pamphlets and booklets directly from the Bass website... The pictures there

are much more helpful than on the web...

Thanks for the information. There are two different pictures among the various web sites for the Halolite model. Some show the marquee with a poster of "A Few Good Men" and "Next Attraction" below it and others show "Lawrence of Arabia" with "Now Showing" below it. The LoA one appears to be slightly different (one site that has this model is the htmarket.com site). It seems like every site also offers a different set of customization options and some say you choose the "Dater" (the words below the picture). I guess it's best to actually order over the phone to be sure.

One thing that the htmarket site offers that I didn't see on the others (they may have it; they just don't offer the information on their websites) is an upgrade of the plastic cover to a thicker sheet of lexan ($25 option). They say that the normal grade of Styrene has imperfections and they do not guarantee a perfect sheet and will not replace it. If you order the thicker Lexan they guarantee it will be "near flawless condition" and they'll replace it on request. Any opinions on this or information if other sites offer this would be appreciated. Also , if anyone knows if that's something you can usually find locally cut to order for cheaper than $25 that would also be helpful info.

Thanks again,

David

I talked directly with the Bass people and they told me that they vigilently monitor who sells their marquees on the internet and that everyone who has a web site selling their marquees is (i.e., should be) an authorized seller. They all order through Bass so, regardless of the picture, what you should get is the latest version from Bass. The "Dater" comes with both interchangable pieces. Some web sites ask for a choice because that's how it worked in the past (at least that's the story I'm getting from the resellers). So in theory it shouldn't matter which reseller you order from. The only difference is that it is the reseller who will provide the "support" if there are any problems.

The styrene is, as the say, imperfect. However, once I hung the posters I thought they looked fine. Save your money and if you can't stand it, contact a local frame shop about lexan.

I received it yesterday, but the electrician won't be able to hook it up until next week. I'll try to get a picture then. If anyone lives in Maryland, the movie theater at Arundel Mills Mall (Muvico) has bunches of the Halolite (in blue) displaying their posters. I never noticed until I went the other day.
