I think it is pretty universal that despite our best attention and diligence there is something that you will inevitably forget.

So is my case. As of this past weekend, I completed all the GOM covered walls. As I proudly stood admiring my work, my wife walked in and casually asked "how are we going to hang the curtains?" DOH! That's right, even though it has always been in the plan to have curtains on the sides of the screen and we even have a nice velvet fabric, I completed neglected to figure out how to hang the curtain rod.

So, not wanted to mess up my nice, pretty GOM walls, I am wondering if anyone has an example of a curtain rod that goes up through a suspended ceiling and attaches to the joist above.

why don't you just use wire? You could easily tie it up to the ceiling joists, you may even have some left over from your suspended ceiling that would work fine. Just an idea, it would give a nice floating curtain effect too.

You can make a valance out of your curtain fabric to put in front of the curtain rod to hide it.

Or you can make a valance out of leftover GOM and make it into a cornice to place in front of the curtain rod and hide it. A "floaty" effect.

These examples can be used at the ceiling, or suspend them above the ceiling and let them hang down a bit.

LOL

Holy cow your wife sounds just like my wife - an amazing, unwavering, uncanny ability to casually stroll into a project and within momments being able to point out what was missed or what was not thought of.

ha ha haaaaaa!!! Sigh.

Hmm, maybe. I'll have to think about that.

Thanks but you misunderstood. Its not hiding the curtain rod that is the problem. It is actually how to mount it, since my walls are GOM fabric and I don't want to try to attach mounting hardware to them.

Aren't many curtain rods designed to be hung from the ceiling? Check your manual for yours.

I thought about the curtain rod ahead of time and added extra furring pieces where the curtain rods would attach to the wall and where an electric motor would go to automate the curtain.

I just want to add, for the record, that my wife has been a great partner in helping to complete this HT and I never could have done it without her. It is OUR HT. Right honey?
