I'm on my second Harman/Kardon AVR 500 receiver now. It exhibits the same problem with optical inputs as my first.
Here's the problem: When I'm playing my Toshiba SD 2108U DVD player though the AVR 500 using optical digital inputs the receiver turns off randomly as if I pressed the power off button on the remote. This behavior happen worsts on some DVD's I'm playing than others.
The optical output on the DVD is connected to optical digital 1 input on the AVR 500, the analog audio outputs from the DVD are attached to the DVD audio input on the AVR 500; the S-video output from the DVD is attached to the video 1 input on the AVR 500.
Has anyone heard of this type of behavior? Are the connections correct?
Thanks in advance for your help - Mike
