The 680 is slightly preferred over the 676 as its transport buttons surround the thumbpad and the chapter skip buttons are dual labeled "Skip" and "Replay". Other than that, they both have identical programming abilities.
Well, they also differ in button type (680 has hard buttons) and button functions (the 680 has superior dedicated DVR button functionality - LIVE, REC'D, SKIP, REPLAY).
True enough. Although one can program (nearly) any button to do what you want, the Logitech website describes the 688 and 676 as built for the DVR/PVR user in mind. The 680 is a PC Media center remote with dedicated PVR buttons like Rec'd. and Live. Skip and replay are on the others as well, just not as handy.
