I have just finished programming a Harmony 688 for a JVC HD-52Z585. The remote works very well with the TV. However, there are two problems I ran into and my solutions.


First, the Harmony codes for up, down, right, left and select do not work. I just added them by using the TV remote and they were downloaded to all of my picture settings for the components I am using.


The other problem was that the remote would not tune into the cable TV input. The problem is that to get to the cable TV input Harmony appears to input a 0 or 00 code. If that is not a channel on your cable, then the TV will revert back to the last input. I was able to overcome this by going into custom settings when setting up the Watch TV activity and adding "channel up" to the activities on start up.

Call Harmony's 1-800 support people and I am sure that they can help you. I have not yet had them fail me when I have called them concerning configuration problems with my Harmony 768.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have already e mailed them and advised them of the problems. I suspect that they will update their databases. In the interim, I was able to get everything working the way I wanted by using the JVC remote to provide the additional commands I needed. I am very happy with the remote and it is the first universal remote that I have been able to explain how to use to my wife.
