Sorry in advance for the long post

I have been happily using my 880 to control my Yamaha HTR 6060 amp for a couple of years now. About 2 weeks ago, I heard that Logitech had updated their desktop configuration software so I downloaded and installed it. I also made the mistake of updating the firmware for the remote.

Now, I no longer seem to have any control over my amp trough the 880 i.e. it does not turn on when I run the "Watch TV" sctivity nor do the volume control buttons work. I completely wiped all the activities and devices from my 880 and set them up again but with the same results - no control over the amp.

I have talked with the Logitech customer support but they just keep repeating the same thing i.e. use the "Learn commands" function in the config program. While the button functions on the original Yamaha remote are recognized by the 880, they simply do not work on the amp itself.

Anyone else having problems with their 880 after a recent firmware update?

I have never liked the number buttons on the 880 and have considered the purchase of another remote. While the Harmony One looks interesting, I would prefer buttons rather than a touchscreen and I am now not terribly impressed with the Logitech CS. Any other suggestions?

Thanks for your help guys.

A few of us had problems where the remotes stopped working unless very close (6") from the components being controled.

Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately, the receiver still does not turn on when the remote is close to it.

I've had other suggestions that I will try over the weekend i.e. manually add the device to the remote. Wish me luck
