Harmony One / Dish Network DVR

I need some input...

I have a Dishnetwork dual tuner DVR 622 (Echostar de-26) and I am trying to make the H1 operate it.

TV1 is controlled by remote1 which is IR, TV2 is controlled by remote2 which emits UHF Band B. The H1 recognizes TV1 fine but will not learn the TV2 commands, I think because it is UHF and the H1 is IR only.

Dish and Logitech both are telling me that there is no work around but I seem to remember reading about a UHF to IR converter?

I love the H1 but would like to solve this little inconvenience.

Both TV1 and TV2 are in the same room, btw.

TIA!

I have a couple of 622's. IIRC you can set TV2 to be controlled by IR. If so you'd be controlling TV1 by IR and also TV2 by IR - each on a different IR address.

You will tell the Harmony software that you have two 622's - I would advise you to rename them TV1 and TV2.

During setup, the Harmony will determine which addresses you have assigned to each of the 622's by asking you to push specific buttons on the OEM remotes.

That's what I was hoping for...Dish is not helping and Logitech is telling me to switch to the 890.

How do I switch TV2 from UHF to IR?

To be clear, the RF associated with the 890 is proprietary to the Harmony remote. The RF associated with your E* 622 is proprietary to the 622. There would be no value to using an 890.

I do not know how to TV2 to IR... as I said, "IIRC" it can be done.

Let me try some searching - but you may get some help here: http://www.dbstalk.com/forumdisplay....ysprune=&f=107

EDIT: It's looking like the ability to control the outputs of [email protected] via IR was announced last summer - but I don't know if it is actually now available.

Excellent..thanks for the link!

I called Dish again and they told me that the remote for TV1 can be programmed to work either on IR or UHF, but not the TV2 remote.
Keep in mind if your change TV2 to IR that TV2 must have line of sight to the 622. IR does not go through walls like RF?

Is the 622 actually connected to two TVs? If not, just set the box to single mode and no need for the RF remote.

I am using TV2 to record events to a DVD recorder that overlap with events being recorded on the TV1 DVR.

With my setup, I am also able to watch TV while recording another event at the same time.

I think I can not do any of that in single mode, or can I?? I am still trying to get familiar with all this.

In Single Mode you can watch a program in HD or SD on TV1 while simultaneously recording a different event on TV2, keeping in mind the fact that the output to TV2 is always SD or downrezed HD.

OK, if that's the case I guess I am not clear about the difference between single mode and dual mode...

In Single Mode, both of the outputs (TV! and TV2) are the same. In Dual Mode, the IR Remote for TV1 controls which tuner is viewed on TV! and the remote associated with TV2 determines what is independently viewed on TV2.
If you do not have the need to watch different shows at the same time, Single is the way to go.

In Single mode you have no interest in what tuner # is doing what.

Do not confuse Tuner# with TV#. They are not the same thing.
