Harmony - splitting up remote and hub?

Hey guys, looking for some help please! I have many harmony remotes but I just lucked into a cheap "ultimate home" and am looking to split it up. I want to use the physical remote in a bedroom and use the hub and the app in my garage for the outside audio setup. I switched the hub assignments within the remote for "remote only" but when I move the hub to the garage the remote says I need to bring the hub closer and it won't work. I'm not sending any commands from the hub at all for the inside activities yet it seems like it still needs it to work. Anyone ever split them up successfully?

yes, instructions are on the harmony website. you can do what you want to do.
You got a link? The stuff I read on their site I came across isn't clear.
So once I reset the hub the remote will no longer look for it?
And the two can be used completely independent of each other once I register the hub again online?
You can't do it. The pair cannot be split unfortunately.
