I turned in my TV cable set box today.  Ooma had completed porting over my home phone number and with the attic antenna I was ready to negotiate.  It is much easier to negotiate when you are ready to walk away.  I came in with a print out of the promotions for new customers and the equipment to turn in.  I walked out with a $70 savings a month but I kept the Basic cable with Turbo Internet service.  I guess cable cutting is a progression of letting go.  I am now looking for a set box that will let me connect the antenna, the cable, and a laptop together with a capability to switch between them,  There are new products coming out that look hopeful.  I am keeping my eye on the Mohu Channel box that has a remote.

Have any of you put a TV tuner with a laptop connected to your TV display?  I want to combine into a controller the antenna, the cable and the laptop with a means to switch with out having to unscrew one and connect the other.

Congrats on moving toward a more selective way of watching your news and entertainment.

A better place to post your question is in the HDTV Technical forum. You'll find plenty of advice there.

Also if you're interested in recording your programs there is the HDTV Recorders forum.

You could try an A/B switch but keep in mind you can't combine a cable signal and OTA on the same line. HDTV Technical is a good idea for your question.
