Has Dish got any upcoming sat launches/leases for added HD bandwidth?
Has Dish got any upcoming sat launches or leases for HD added bandwidth to improve PQ and add StarzHD, CinemaxHD and TMCHD, plus East-West HD Networks?

There is another HD on SuperDish rumour being floated about. But with Dish having to realign many markets due to the upcoming "All locals from a market must be on a single dish" law, there is a lot of shuffling about to take place at Dish. Throw the possible Voom involvment with their 61.5 satellite into the mix and nobody really knows what Dish is going to do with HD.
AMC-15 will go to slot 105, and it will replace the old AMC-2 which currently can't effectively broadcast to the entire CONUS. So they can:
Put HD on the new 105 Satelite and require SuperDish for HD
Put HD on the Dish 500 Satellites (110 & 119) which are already crowded.
Put HD on the Wing Satellites (61.5 & 148)
Use a combination of the 3 above and require a SuperDish and Wing Satellite with a DPP44 switch to receive 4 satellites.

Long term, they have plenty of Ka licenses, and also got some more FSS capacity . What their plans and timetable are... who knows?

According to their annual report Dish has 1000 mhz of Ka and Ku band licenses. They are also proposing a 4 1/5 degree spacing of DBS satellites vs the current 9 degrees. Long term capacity is not an issue.
My speculation. Since Dish was touting 50 HD channels including HD locals for 3-4 cities with their other satellite before it was determined not to cover CONUS, I would speculate that that may still be their plan.
Since I assume they have licenses for enough slots at 105 why don't they keep both satellites there and use the existing one for locals in the CT and MT zones. The new one could be used for HBO HD West, Starz, Cinemax, etc. etc.
Boy it is fun to plan how to use other peoples money.

I plan on dropping dish when my contract is up and getting D*. I like how D* has a stated plan and timetable for getting new satellites up and providing new HD. With E*, who knows. Plus D* has sunday ticket in HD, if I would have known this months ago I would have gone with them.
