Has display technology exceeded the media available?

Has display technology exceeded the media available? I have to ask myself this question...after going to the theater and viewing King Kong...and coming home to see my lowly 4805 ...knowing that certain aspects of the DVD are going to look better at home then it did in the theater.

Then I go visit the over $3500 forum and after reading for hours this morning....I know that these guys are ill....you guys are fighting an uphill battle if you ask me.

I think this has been the case for a long time... weren't many of us using 1024x768 more than a decade ago?

What's happening is that this resolution that was available at 17" a decade ago is now showing up at 40, 50, 100, 120", etc. sizes at reasonable price points. Media has been behind display technology for a long time now.
The video processors are moving along with the output devices, however. There are some really nice processors out there, now.

I've notices that the further up the ladder you go, the steps in video quality become smaller, and the steps in price become larger. This really isn't too uncommon for any product. Even cars, computers, and food work on this scale.
Not exceeded by far yet.

1080p home theater grade displays at consumer friendly prices are just coming on the market. So are decent 1080i to 1080p deinterlacers. A good 1080p setup will get you home-deinterlaced 1080p from existing 1080i that is better than 1080i or 720p as-is.
