I just purchased a Hauppauge HVR-950. The tuner works pretty well, but for some reason when you record an HD program with the included WinTV2000 software it won't simply give you a Mpeg2 stream file, instead it outputs a weird Mpeg1 file @ 704x480. Although, the file size is big enough to be MPEG2. Anyone figured out how to get around this without using a third party PVR application?
