I just installed a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-250MCE for my MCE 2005 machine and I cannot figure out how to get the sound to work on it!

I get computer, DVD and HDTV sound out of my on board SPDIF (ASUS P4E) just fine.

But when I try to watch TV with MCE 2005 I get no sound.

I'm guessing there is a tweak somewhere that tells it to input the sound from the stereo rca plugs on the Hauppauge, but I don't know where that setting is?

Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Hello,

I have the WinTV PVR-350 card installed into an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe MB, with an Athlon XP 3200+ CPU and 1 GB of dual-channel PC3200 ram. I can't get the WinTV Radio or the WinTV2000 to work.

Let me clarify a few things. When used the software on the supplied CD, the WinTV Radio program would run but I couldn't get any audio. So I tried to run the WinTV2000 program, and all I got was an error message saying "Failed to create TV window. hTV = 0xc1c860 Err = 8". So I downloaded the latest everything off their website and installed it. Now the radio doesn't do anything at all, and the WinTV2000 gives the same error message.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Oh, yeah, I'm inputing from an old Dishnet (Echostar) receiver via SVideo and stereo RCA plugs.

Picture is fine, control works ok with the remote (took a while to figure out that I needed to tell it to only use THREE digits, instead of the four it can really handle).

Just no sound from the stereo inputs.

I am going to reload soon, so will use the new drivers on the link you mentioned (was using MCE drivers from PCAlchemey, where I bought the OEM unit).

When I try to open the SoundMAX control panel it says the digital sound is being used for some reason.

Do you have a way to find out if the Hauppauge card is actually recording the audio? Try recording something and play it back on another machine.

I sometimes get no audio when I use zoom player and then switch back to the MCE app. Restarting the MCE app ususally fixes that.

Do you have any apps running that use kernel streaming (those use the audio exclusively)?
