I was reading the manual for HAVA and I got the impression it streams up

to a server before you can view it. Is that the case for slingbox too?


I thought these device let you remotely connect directly to your home (no server in between), and watch TV

Not sure where you got that impression. I have both a slingbox and a Hava and neither require a server, your PC connects directly to the Hava or Slingbox using their client.
