I just purchased a used amp and the center channel isn't working. I'm pretty bummed that it wasn't just one of the surrounds. Would it be ok to run the center channel off of my receiver and the rest of my speakers from the amp?

Receiver: H/K AVR-254

Amp: Adcom GFA 6000

Speakers: 4-ohm 87db mains, 4-ohm center, 4-ohm surrounds. I don't know what the sensitivity of the center and surrounds are.

Thanks.

I don't see why not. Your receiver's power supply will only have to supply power for the center channel.

The only possible problem I could forsee is that HKs might trade off current for rail voltage, and that might limit how much power a single channel can deliver - but I don't know that for sure, and it's into a 4 ohm load which should help.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. In that case, I'd let the receiver drive the center channel while the Adcom takes care of everything else, as you suggested. You shouldn't run into any problems like that.
