Have an LG LST 4200A, any way to record widescreen?

I'm testing the SVideo output on this box, and I can't get it to go into anamorphic mode on the SVideo output of an HD channel, I'm just getting what would be an SD output equivalent with the sides cropped off.

My goal is to be able to record an HD signal onto a DVD (I realize that this is an SD recording, but I would like to retain the widescreen information). Any way to do this? Any recommended DVD recorders to help out with my plight? (perhaps one that takes in 1080i over component and downcoverts?).

I have a 4200A and as you stated. The composite output will only output the signal as if you are watching a 4:3 tv. It cuts off the two side of the picture. The only way, would to get a recorder that would record off the component output of 4200A. I don't know if their is a recorder(sure there probably is but somebody else with more knowledge than I will have to cut in.)
OK, I found the answer. Apparently, the svideo output CAN output a widescreen image without cropping it, but because of some firmware bug when the unit is switched to 720p or 1080i, the output on the svideo connection goes to 4x3 output. If you set the component output resolution to 480p or 480i, the svideo output can be adjusted using the aspect ratio menu to output black bars, stretched, or compressed (you want the compressed version if you want 16x9 full screen out of svideo).

I found the answer here:

Never to late to learn. Will have to check it out, and I posted on that thread back in Nov of 04
