Recently bought a 2006 explorer with a satellite antenna. However, I can't get an eSN code (tried direction from manual and Sirius operator) and Menu/Aux buttons on radio suggest the car is not fitted for Satellite. Former fleet vehicle. Any suggestion? The antenna was installed just for show? Was sold with sat option.

Entirely possible that the trucks ordered for the fleet were all of a style or package that came off the line with satellite radio, but the contract specified no satellite. It's easier to switch the radio for 20 or 30 trucks than make a run of a certain style truck with a different roof. So, yeah, it probably has the antenna or at least the housing without the radio. Kind of like when you get a dashboard and you can tell where a switch or gauge WOULD go, but there's a blank insert instead. Easier to put in the insert than to design a bunch of different dashboards.

Some cars have a separate tuner in them. The previous owner may have taken that tuner out, also its possible sat radio burned out or a fuse burned out(some fuses are on the tuner and not in fuse box area)?

previous post by DrDon is very possible and logically a good answer.
