hello everyone,

i am new here and was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with their 50PK540 50" plasma having a green vertical line?

i have a single pixel green line in the upper left corner about a half inch from the border o9f the tv and goes down about 6 inches.

its only visible during certain times when the tv is showing a certain color.

two pixels seem to be there all the time and the line is rather bright.

anyone know what the problem is?

and also was wondering if there is a way to check the hours on this tv?

i received this as a gift from a family member that is out of state and when i called LG they said its still under warranty but i need a receipt.

i really dont want to ask for a receipt from my aunt who gave it to me as a house warming gift.

does anyone know how i might be able to still use the warranty without having the receipt?


any help would be greatly appreciated.

Usually if the serial number is within a year they will never question it. But if that shows beyond a year, then yes you will need a receipt.

hey jim,

i called lg and they never asked for the serial number.

i told them the model number and they said its under warranty.

i guess the model has been in production for under a year for them to not even ask for the serial number.

i told them it was a gift and not sure if i can obtain the receipt.

should i call them back and ask if its under warranty without receipt?

any other suggestions?
