There are various options, including the MKIII, AVS1-R (same as Prismasonic H5000R), and the Panamorph. The AVS1R is one of the better for the feature/money set as it is full motorized and under your price budget. A Panamorph would be the most expensive option.

I have the Panamorph and leave it in place for 16/9 and 2.40:1 just do electronic scaling to fit the correct aspect ratio with a DVDO Edge scaler. Any of the 3 lens' Jason mentioned would be a great fit for your setup and budget.

Can someone tell me what is the distance from the edge of the glass of the RS-20 lens to the outside of the case. How deep is that hole the lens sits in?

In other words what is the minimum mounting distance glass-to-glass for an anamorphic lens with this projector?

I have to calibrate one this weekend so I can measure (if someone doesn't beat me to it). As I recall about 3/4" or so from the lens to the front cover, but, the front cover actually curves slightly as well and has a rim that sticks out slightly further (thus making slides more challenging to get close).

Here's a question, my understanding is that both the UH480 and the AVS1/HD5000 have astigmatism correction, but the AVS1/HD5000 is "fixed", while the UH480 has optional "conversion" options for various throw distances.

Does anyone know what the designed throw is of the AVS1/HD5000 (for it's astigmatism element), and what sort of difference does it make having the right conversion option on the UH480 for a given throw?

Thanks Jason, if you could accurately measure the distance that would be great.

I wanted to see how close an anamorphic adapter can be mounted before it bumps into the projector case. The minimum air gap (which would be equal to at least the depth of the projector lens recess) between the two sets of glass (adapter and projector) can be important.

If you get the time can you PM me with the results, please?

Thanks again.

Hi

What settings do you use on the DVDO Edge to display a 4:3 image on the screen while leaving the lens in place?

Hi

Don't discount a second hand lens as an option

.

I thought I would never be able to afford to go CIH,until I tried a used Isco II.

I have it fixed in front of a HD750/RS20 and it works perfectly.I use a Crystalio 3300 to scale everything into the screen shape.

As for moving the lens on a slide, the Isco II then has some issues(it magnifies the image slightly) as well as the clearence issues with the projector case, but so long as you don't go berserk on the screen size, leaving it in place is perfectly acceptable IMO.

FWIW,I have 2:35 screen burn on the CRT PJ I took down,so I don't do alot of 16:9 and the NLS mode if used on the TV and especially games is fine

What's the minimum throw ratio that can be used with the Isco II?

I don't know what the minimum throw is for the Isco II,I'd have to pull it down and try that out.I just went with the recommendations from the forum and are using 2:1 and the image on the lens is plenty away from the edges of the lens housing.

I might try going to 1.7:1(which I think will be tight) later on to see if I get more light output from the PJ,but I'm only running an 8' screen at the moment,to be replaced by a 9' screen next year, which by my calculations will get about 16ft/l
