Have the Panasonic CP72, Should I Upgrade?

This model has the Faroujda FLI 2200 chip (like the RP82). I have it on a 60" LCD (Sony KF60WE610). Will I see much improvement with some of the upconverting players? Do any of these players allow upconversion thru component? Doesn't this TV "upconvert"?
