Cant capture image but found this photo that appears to describe the symptoms and may help you visualize.

Do you see that vertical bar from top to bottom and to the right of the picture with very close horizontal lines? Thats what it looks like except its not disappearing into the side of screen like in the picture. Disregard all the other lines on the photo as they don't apply.

The bar with lines to the right on the photo are similar to what's seen on a new Samsung 1080p lcd.

Lines don't appear to be visible during tv viewing

Lines don't appear to be visible on the 360 dashboard.

They appear to be visible on the game menu, on the game video clip that plays in a game if you're on the menu and no button is pressed for a short period, and visible in the gameplay.

More visible in dark or black background but its there.

Tested with everything disconnected from tv except 360 which is connected via hdmi.

Does it say anything lines are not visible when 360 is connected to a tube tv?

What do you think?

What could be the reason its not displaying that vertical bar with horizontal lines when tested using a tube tv? Also why don't they appear to be present on the dashboard only in the other places described in post. If you believe its like others have said here then how much use left and will playing harm a new hdtv?

What you are showing us is just a poorly deinterlaced image. Everyone else is just super quick to jump to the "OMG it's dying LOL!!1" answer.

Is your 360 set to output 1080i to your display? If so, change it to preferably 1080p, or alternatively 720p. Chances are quite good that it will then go away during gameplay, but may still show up during pre-game, pre-rendered videos if the developer was dumb as a brick when cutting their video.

I seems like a deinterlacing issue would show through the whole image, not just the bar on the right. The OP was just using that image as a rough example if you read the first post.
