Having a picture problem with my Sony KV-30HS420

I have a Sony CRT 30" widescreen TV. I bought it from a friend a little while ago and I noticed something...the TV is making the picture too big for the screen, if that makes any sense. The top, bottom, and sides of the picture are always hanging off the screen about 1" on every side...like I can't see part of the picture. The TV doesn't allow you to adjust this, does anyone know what this could be from and how to fix it?
