I am asking not making a statement, I recently got an HDTV LCD with HDMI 1.3, and a good HDMI 1.3b cable from Amazon, I am perfectly happy with this all. I noted my HDTV supports xvYC Deep Color, in FULL HD 1080p. But then I remembered, that the 360 Elite, only supports HDMI 1.2 like all Xbox 360's.

That really sucks and its a shame because with HDMI 1.2 we can't take advantage of xvYC Deep Color and 10-bit LCD HDTV's.

But then again they don't even make HDMi 1.2 cables everything is standardized at HDMI 1.3 for now.

And since all HDMI 1.3 cables are rated at 10.2GB/ps transmission, whether its a Monster Cable or a non-name brand they all work alike, Its just the 360 which at a hardware level has no Deep Color HDMI 1.3 support.?

Considering that HDMI 1.3b cables are about 5 dollars, there is no reason to ever get a 1.2 cable unless you really wanna gimp yourself.

Ummm, the 360 was designed and launched without HDMI--at all. The PS3 which came a year later added HDMI 1.3 at tremendous cost, and didn't even fully implement the spec (DTS-MA bitstreaming anyone?).

This was a design decision that was made nearly 7 years ago. Nearly no one owned an HDMI 1.3 TV 7 years ago. If there's a game that supports xvYCC I'm unaware of it. (and I'd like to know!)

And just to be clear, I own a launch model PS3 60GB, and an Xbox arcade (my launch unit died 2 years in, and that chrome door had to go), so I'm not a shrieking fanboy.

It would be great if xbox had hdmi 1.3 - or 1.4, but it doesn't. Try to enjoy the games--they look pretty damned good even without it!

PS I'd rather developers spend more time fixing frame-rates, pop-in and internal resolution to tinkering with something they're unfamiliar with. Hell, they can't even get their gamma correct half the time--let's not overwhelm them.

On a side note the PS3 may be able to support 3D games because HDMI 1.3 fully supports 3D, however the Xbox 360 can not. Only because HDMI 1.2 has no 3D support or at a hardware level can not support 3D content.

Aren't there 2 games (Avatar and some other Live arcade title) that are playable in 3D? If true that would mean that having HDMI 1.3 isn't required to enjoy 3D from the 360.

No Its Not supported period.

AVATAR and that other game is some weird hack where you get sterescopic 3D 2 images.

True 3D like we see in theaters is way better.

True, but given its rendering capability, don't expect anything stunning.

3D is double the frame rate essentially, and both consoles struggle with even [email protected]

I'm very happy with what my Xbox currently does. It will be replaced in a couple years anyway by the next generation console.

So yeah, I think this guy is just trying to stir up ****. 3D movies or games at home aren't going to take off any time soon because hardly anyway has all the hardware needed to display it properly, and it's not just because of their HDMI inputs, bub.

Not to revive an old thread but:

I just hooked up hdmi to my xbox and it doesn't work with a 1.4 cable. I happened to have an old 1.2, but the really nice 1.4 that I bought give no picture or sound and prevents the controller indicator from even showing up on the ring of power (ooooh)

Why is this? I thought all HDMI cables are backwards compatible. Does it matter that it's a light guage hdmi (28) where I was putting in a nice 23?

Anyone?

I brought this thread back to discuss the original problem, and my similar issue. Can we not dredge up old possibly erroneous posts just to lambast people?

Why are these cables not working? Neither in the xbox or my hddvd player. What gives there?
