could the programming on these two channels be any worse?

how many times do I have to watch such critically acclaimed films such as Operation Dumbo Drop, From Justin to Kelly, Brother Bear, and Alex & Emma?

In a word NO! Really these channels have got to do a better job with movie selection. They have to start getting big movies that peolpe want to see in HD.I mean really does anyone in the entire world need to see "from justin to kelly" in HD.That was truly the the bottom for me. We can't get Braveheart OAR and HD? We can't get Titanic OAR and HD? This is rediculous. J.H.
If you want OAR, SHO is your only choice in a premium movie channel.
But if you want really good HD programming for get it! J.H.
I'm glad I found this thread. I have been juggling getting cable HD or just going OTA. If the programming isn't worth it, at least for movies, I think I'll go OTA.
Bad boys II was a good release, i fell asleep when it came out, but now watching it, i was able to keep my attention throughout, great transfer, crap movie.
I hear you...but, you have to consider that movie tastes are very very subjective and personal. Take "From Justin to Kelly". The imdb has this ranked as the 8th worst movie of all time. I don't know, but I have absolutely NO intention on seeing it. But, 634 people gave this flick a 10/10 rating. I would imagine these people are somewhat delusional and probably enjoyed many of the other bottom 100 films of all time as rated my imdb users.

But, they do play alot of very very good movies...Some good ones (my opinion of course) coming in November are: Mr. Holand's Opus, Ghost, Thirteen, True Romance, Wonderland, Sling Blade etc...

ShowtimeHD has to be worst offender despite the fact that they offer OAR. How many times can we watch K-19 the Widowmaker, Windtalkers, the Sum of All Fears, Ashes to Ashes, the Italian Job, Candyman, etc. I mean it is one thing to offer OAR but the repetitive nature of their programming has to be the worst of all.
The movie selection used to be much better as I recall. Lately, it seems that their selection is getting worse and they're repeating them more often. I haven't seen anything on any of their channels to make me watch for the past few weeks.
its just been a crappy year for movies. Soon there will be the likes of Spiderman 2, and The Day after tommorrow. just be patient, and watch football or something.

Not til next year for these, hit movies are usually about year later from their premiere at theaters to appear on Movie channels, first DVD,then PPV,then Movie Channels.
The movie selection is thin because there are three major movie channels. Four if you count Cinemax. So selection is tight and the less popular titles get repeated over and over again because it's cheap to do so.
It seems that it's always been this way. The only solution: HD-DVD. Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps. :)
90% is horrible B movies that are just repeated everyday. There's a couple of great movies per month. I'm waiting for the new CYE season and next year new Sopranos.

You mean the 2006 Sopranos, right?

As for the Movies, Well it's a crap shoot. Gotta take the good with the bad. Believe it or not, there are lots of teens that like The Justin and Kelley Masterpiece...

back in the Day, I remember watching Invasion of the Body Snatchers just about every night on HBO because that is about all it had.
I just looked at the November schedules for Starz, HBO, Cinemax, and Showtime.

Showtime is the worst.

HBO second to worst.

Starz a little better because LOTR movies (but everything else sucks).

Cinemax lots of good HD material (T3, X2, Ring, etc).
That doesn't matter to me because almost all the stuff I want to watch is cropped.

Citing "The Day After Tomorrow" does not help make your point. :p
And the one channel that does not crop should be called showtime-repeat-hd crap instead of showtime-hd.
