4972 Views 30 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  JayMan007
So i was thinking about getting HBO on demand from TWC...however, do they offer any of their on demand shows in HD? if not I dont really think I'd care for it...

Do any of the on demand channels offered have shows in hd?

wow that sucks,

twc in nyc apparantley has none
Cox OKC doesn't offer any of its OnDemand programming in HD, either.
I dont understand why they dont have it...would it really be that big of a problem to add the hd feed to their on demand library? or is there some other issue?
I have time warner cable with several on demand channels. I do not have to subscribe to on demand correct are they not just like ordering a ppv movie.

I have those on demand channels as well and you are correct you do not have to subscribe to them.

What I am referring to is the premium on demands like HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Starz etc...

These sometimes have an additional subscription cost. Furthermore, in nyc on twc there are no shows offered in HD on these premium on demand channels. I do have access to an on demand channel for movies which shows them in HD, but I want to be able to view my favorite hbo shows that are on the on demand channel in HD, such as the sopranos, curb your enthusiasm, big love etc...

For now at least, I only have access to them in SD

HBO HD was added here in time for the Sopranos (and that's all it has right now). Showtime has Dexter, Weeds and The Tudors and few movies.

Comcast Fresno, CA has these as well as Cinemax OnDemand HD. Although last time I checked (not a Cinemax subscriber myself), the last OnDemand HD from them was back when they were running all the STAR WARS films.

Will be nice to see HBO offer something other than SOPRANOS episodes and related stuff in HD OnDemand. Starz and Encore usually have a decent selection of HD movies every month or so.

Sopranos, Dexter, Weeds are all great shows... Haven't watched Tudors.

What does Verizon have in regards to HD On Demand?

I couldn't find anything on their website showing what they have On Demand.

Same here, I've always found it interesting how the different parts of the country have such varying on demand programming available even with the same provider.
Our local Comcast didn't even put the last Sopranos episode on On-Demand. They also have a category for John from Cincinnati, but it only has some 2 or 3 minute intro, no actual shows. On Demand programming is slowly deteriorating to nothing of interest. I don't know if it's some kind of content issue or if Comcast just gets lazy and apathetic and just doesn't put it up on the servers. Whatever the case, it's really not worth much to me currently, and it's not very dependable if you are following a series and depend on On-Demand to catch missed episodes.
Check your local topic.
HBO On Demand is not on DirectTV. Is that because there is a technical reason that an On Demand station would not work on satellite, or is it just a programing decision?
DirecTV has not yet deployed on demand style programming. It is supposed to be launched sometime this summer. Some programming will be directly through the satellite but most will be via broadband internet connection.

To my knowledge, HBO has only the Sopranos in HD on demand. Recently, someone from HBO said HD on demand made it too easy to pirate quality copies of HBO programming....
How is it "pirating" when you pay for it?

Must be an issue with your local server, 'cause OnDemand in Fresno, CA did get the last SOPRANOS in HD. And we have lots of OnDemand HD choices--albeit not from HBO currently.

This last season, the 2 CBS primetime shows watched in my home--the original CSI and JERICHO were both available in HD OnDemand. ALWAYS showed up the day after airing. And although not HD, I stopped recording REAL TIME W/ BILL MAHER when it got offered.

I figured it probably was a local issue, the CBS shows you mentioned were regular and always there on mine also, the CBS on demand stuff was always timely and right there.
