The VGA input on my HD1000 is the weakest area of all for the projector. While I've heard that neither the VGA or component input are capable of 1:1 pixel mapping, I use the component input all the time and notice only the slightest difference between it and the HDMI input. The difference is so small that I usually don't bother using the HDMI for my cable box or my Xbox360 (both of which are capable) because it's easier for me to switch sources on my non-HDMI pre/pro. VGA, on the other hand, looks pretty bad no matter which sources I've tried (both the 360 and my HTPC). It's watchable from the HTPC, but I found it essentially unusable from the 360.
So, in short, the component inputs are very good. The VGA input is pretty lousy.
