I currently have and HD1000 and want to upgrade to the HC3800.

Can anyone please confirm the following for me? I did some research and

"think" I have the answers I need.

1) I want to use the same ceiling mount I used for my HD1000, I have a Sanus VMPR1, I assume this mount will work since its a universal mount.

2) I plugged in the numbers into a projector calculator on Mitsubishi's website and I believe that the placement of my screen will work fine. I have a DIY screen which is screwed into the wall and I would rather not have to take it all down and reposition it, if I have to I will but would really rather not.

3) My throw distance will be a little over 13 feet and my screen is 109in diag. Does this sound ok? My theater room have very little ambient light and is completely painted in flat black.

TIA for any replies.

I had a look.... assuming you mean the Mitsubishi HD1000.

If so, comparing the tables between the HD1000 and the HC3800 the offset is listed as identical for each size of screen. Also for a 110" screen the mounting distance allowed was from 11' - 16' 6"' for this size. Therefore it should be excellent at 13' for your 109" screen. I also had a look at the mount you have and that looks like it would not be a problem either.

I think you are good to go!

(No warranty however... as it is quite late over here and my eyes are sleepy!)

That mount is the same one that I am using on a 3800 and it works fine, just realize that you will probably have to shift the mounting location over a bit in order to compensate for the 3800's lens offset (the HD100 lens is centered while the 3800 is off to one side).
