Recently my Sony HD-300 is suffering from audio dropouts at a very high rate. I called Directtv, because I have the insurance on my equipment, and they will send out a new "comparable" receiver in 3-5 days.

They want my unit back in return, I don't understand why since I pay them monthly for the insurance!

Does anyone know what their "comparable" receiver's brand is?

It'll probably be a LG 3200A (which is mechanically the same as the receiver you have) a Samsung 360 or the new RCA DTC-210 which is replacing all current HD models.

Because that is what is written in the terms of the monthly protection plan you are paying for. I have never known of a plan that allows one to keep the defective item and replacement.
