I have a Diamond HD 4650 with a HDMI port on the back and the documentation says it will do audio over the HDMI port. The machine i have that i am running the card on is a HP Presario SR 1810NX that has a ATI chipset that is a ATI Radeon Xpress 200 on windows XP. I have 2gb of ram and a bigger aftermarket powersupply.
For what ever reason I can not get the HD sound card that is built into the video card to come up. It never pops up as hardware to install. It never comes up in the system devices as a unknown device. I have tried to install the ATI audio driver and the realtec driver both, separately, and after a Drive sweep to see if that will find it. I have disabled the onboard sound care in the bios, uninstalled the drivers for it, and ignored the auto installer for it. Still nothing.
I have called Diamond about this problem and they have no other solutions other than what i have already done described above. Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts to why this would be?
I have a HD 2400 pro that i could never get the HD audio card to ever come up to use it via DVI-HDMI adapter. This makes no sense to me why this will not work. Could it be that the ATI Radeon Xpress 200 chipset is messing with the card being detected with HD audio hardware. I have no other options other than getting this card to work and for the life of me i have no clue. Please, any help at this point would be great.
